From the beginning, we delve in to understand what it is that you deliver. Who are you, and what is the message you want to get across? Everything else we do starts from there. Your logo introduces you and sets the stage for your brand. Your website delivers your message and encourages the audience to action. Then, creative marketing and advertising campaigns generate awareness and build on this message. Great illustrations and photography showcase your products, and interactive demos show off how easy and natural your software is to use.
As you can see, keeping things clear is not a simple task. You may have several target audiences, with different messages for each. Or your software may have grown from a simple product to one with a multitude of features. It's tempting to throw another message box on the home page or another button on the interface. But every time you do this it adds one more element that needs to be processed, one more area where the audience might get lost. All of those messages and features are important, but it's equally important to organize them so that they're not confusing or overwhelming.
Almost from birth, Steve had a natural love of design, layout, and typography. At an early age he saw the power of bringing this to life with computers, and started down the design path coding sprites in BASIC on his Commodore 64. He studied advertising and design at The University of Texas, then dove head first into the booming high-tech marketplace in Austin, Texas. Steve sharpened his design skills by creating award-winning annual reports and advertising campaigns for National Instruments, an industry-leading developer of instrumentation hardware and software. From there he moved into new media design – developing websites, interactive training courses, and web-based software interfaces for cutting-edge firms such as Fusion Learning Systems, e-MDs, and Inquisite. Since the launch of Impactive Design, Steve has worked with a broad spectrum of clients – from high-tech firms to ecommerce startups to non-profit organizations – with each client providing unique challenges and learning opportunities.
Whether he is pushing pixels, chopping code, or igniting ideas, Steve understands that building a clear and consistent creative message creates impact and drives action. He accentuates his creative side with a broad technical understanding, and brings a focused business sense, strong organizational skills, and successful team leadership experience to all of his work.
